The Equine Tui Na Video - An Fa Technique

Tui Na is most likely the oldest form of therapeutic healing. When hurt, our first instinct is to touch, rub, or massage the area. This instinct has not changed in thousands of years. Over these many years the practice known as Tui Na has become codified and taught in Chinese medicine schools worldwide.

Tui Na is the original Chinese meridian acupressure-massage that has been practiced continuously for over 3000 years. These hands-on Chinese medicine massage techniques are used to maintain and restore balance of blood (nourishing body fluids) and chi(life-promoting energy)within the body. Tui Na can be translated in English as “push and grasp,” which are two massage manipulation techniques.

These techniques are based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory of chi, life-promoting energy, which flows through the body’s energetic pathways or channels called “meridians” to maintain a healthy, dynamic balance of yin and yang. Tui Na utilizes various rhythmic compressions and manipulations to resolve stagnations that have blocked the harmonious flow of chi that can disrupt the balance of yin and yang energy leading to pain or disease. The intent of applying Tui Nais to reestablish the flow of chi, realign musculoskeletal structure, and enhance the body’s natural ability to heal.

Today, Tui Na, acupressure-massage, is considered one of the five main branches of TCM. Chi Gong, acupuncture, herbs, and dietary medicine are the other four branches.
